I have just heard from Coralie that my blocks have landed safely in Canada. Coralie sent instructions for her blocks of choice which I have added to my collection. She wanted bright scrappy fabrics so I had a lot of fun searching through my bag to find suitable fabrics.  I am really enjoying doing the block swaps.

These lovely Cathy's campfire blocks were sent to Janet in Yukon Canada from Billy in Victoria Australia

Buttercups

I also partnered with another new member, Julie from California who chose a paper pieced pattern buttercup in grey, white and orange.  It gave me a chance to practice my paper piecing.

I think this will be such a pretty quilt when its completed - good choice Julie

Tic Tac Toe

Everyone knows how to play it, and my partner for April, new member Megan requested this cute block in civil war fabrics.  I flicked through my Farmers wife quilting book to get a feeling for the fabrics used in this era.

I dont have a lot of civil war in my stash, but thought the left over scraps from my jelly roll quilt were very civil war like, so used them to make one block with the other being made from fabric in my stash.

These will be travelling West in no time at all, I hope Megan likes them

Blocks winging their way OS.

Two weeks ago I injured my shoulder. The day before I finished Jen's batik log cabin blocks. These were a learning curve for me as paper pieced them. I tried to make them without paper piecing and ended up with a hexagonal shape almost. That went to make the bookmark I have made for Jen. If I have a block that doesn't work out it becomes a book mark. I posted the blocks and I hope by now that Jen has received them. I am sorry but I don't have much faith in Aus Post after a parcel with a 12 inch block travelled around the world for a few weeks before landing at the right address. I hope the blocks arrive safely.

I have just finished sending out the April swap partners, we now have 21 members with 3 sitting the month out.  A big welcome to newbie Megan from Western Australia.  I am still waiting to hear from Megan with her preferences so I will be her partner this month.

Happy sewing everyone, I look forward to seeing the lovely blocks as they are displayed on the blog.

Spool Blocks

I received these wonderful spool blocks today from Chantell. She used a wood print fabric for the spools and sweet fabrics for the thread - how clever that girl! They are a great addition to my spool quilt that is close to being 'complete'.

Sharon
